The Newfoundland Growlers’ season (and franchise) ended abruptly in March of 2024, but many players whi played for the club during its final season are still playing professional hockey.
Let’s take a look at where some of these players are now.
Forward Isaac Johnson, who led the Growlers with 68 points during the 23-24 campaign, remains in the ECHL with the Iowa Hearlanders. In 20 games played during the 2025-26 season, the Andover, Minnesota native has four goals and 12 assists for 16 points.
2019 Kelly Cup MVP and St. John’s native Zach O’Brien has been enjoying his 2025-26 season with Storhamar in Norway, where he’s appeared in 19 games, scoring seven goals with 14 assists.
Fan favourite Todd Skirving continues to ply his trade in the ECHL. The last team captain in Growlers history played the 2024-25 season with the Reading Royals and joined the Kalamazoo Wings for the 2025-26 season. In 29 games with the K-Wings, Skirvs has notched three assists and 12 penalty minutes.
Defenseman Nolan Dillingham was just a rookie when he scored three goals in 49 Games for the Growlers in 2023-24. Following a year off in 2024-25, Dillingham, a Mississauga, Ontario native, took his talents to Atlantic Canada and played university hockey with Saint Mary’s. In 25 games with the Huskies, Dillingham has scored two goals and added two assists.
New Hampshire native Tate Singleton ranked second on the Growlers with 25 goals during the 2023-24 season, but now played in the American Hockey League for the Cleveland Monsters. In 28 games for the AHL affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets, Singleton has notched five goals and three assists.
