2026 Brier

Heading down to the Brier today? Here’s EVERYTHING you need to know

The 2026 Brier starts TODAY!

The 2026 Montana’s Brier kicks off on Friday at the Mary Brown’s Centre in St. John’s, and if you’re planning on heading downtown to take in the action, there are a few things you may need to know!

DAILY SCHEDULE

There’s just a single draw taking place on Day One of the Brier, but it stands to be an exciting introduction to the event with both teams from the home province of Newfoundland and Labrador taking the ice.

On Sheet A, NL’s Nathan Young will host Team Samagalski from Nunavut, while Brad Gushue kicks off his final Brier with a matchup against Team Knapp from Saskatchewan on Sheet B.

Team Ontario will take on Team Nova Scotia on Sheet C, while Team Prince Edward Island will take on the reigning Olympic champs Team Canada featuring skip Brad Jacobs.

The opening draw is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday night.

VENUE INFORMATION

The Mary Brown’s Centre will open one hour prior to each draw and is now a cashless venue. Venue gift cards can be purchased with cash at the Box Office and used inside for merchandise and concessions.

The Patch, the Brier’s number one entertainment destination, has been set up at the nearby St. John’s Convention Centre and will feature daily entertainment, games and a selection of food items. The Patch is open to all members of the public for free. No event ticket is required.

The Patch opens on Friday at 6:00 p.m. and will close at 2:00 a.m.

The Irish Descendants are kicking off the Brier festivities at The Patch on Friday night.

PARKING AND TRANSIT INFORMATION

The City of St. John’s will be implementing temporary pedestrian crossings and lane reductions during the 2026 Montana’s Brier.

For Friday’s opening draw, please be aware that such measures will be in effect from 10:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

For the duration of the Brier, Metrobus will be offering a Brier TransitPass for  $30. The pass grants holders unlimited access to all Metrobus routes and GoBus Accessible Transit (pre-approval required), throughout the event.

Please note that Metrobus Route 3 will operate on an enhanced schedule with more frequent service.

On-street parking spaces can be found throughout the downtown core and are serviced by Pay Stations and the PayByPhone app. Paid on-street parking is enforced from Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Parking is free after 6 p.m. on weekdays and all day on Saturdays and Sundays.

A parking ban is in place daily between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. on Water Street from Waldegrave Street to Prescott Street, and on Duckworth Street from New Gower Street to Cochrane Street. Vehicles may be ticketed and/or towed if they are parked in violation of the parking ban.
