Gushue wins big to move to 2-0 on Day Two of Brier

Gushue still undefeated at final Brier in St. John’s.

Team Gushue scored three points in the opening end, stole another two points in the second end and never looked back as Team NL-Gushue defeated Team Samagalski from Nunavut by a score of 10-2 in Draw Three of the 2026 Montana’s Brier at the Mary Brown’s Centre on Saturday. 

Jean-Michel Menard handed Newfoundland and Labrador’s Team Nathan Young its first loss of the Brier 7-3. Team Young is now 1-1 through its first two matches. 

Elsewhere in Draw Two, Mike McEwan’s Saskatchewan rink defeated Jamie Koe’s team from the Northwest Territories 11-5, Kevin Roe and Team Alberta defeated Braden Calvert and Team Manitoba 8-2, Team Dunstone’s Manitoba rink got by New Brunswick’s James Grattan 5-3 and Northern Ontario defeated the Yukon 9-8. 

Team Canada’s Brad Jacobs kicked off Draw Three with a with an 8-6 win over Saskatchewan’s Team Knapp, while Team Ontario defeated Team Prince Edward Island 8-3.

THREE TEAMS STILL UNDEFEATED

Beyond Team Gushue, there’s still a pair of team with a perfect record through the first two days of the Brier. 

The reigning Olympic gold medalists Team Jacobs are also 2-0, as is Jayden King’s Team Ontario rink.

THREE DRAWS ON DAY THREE

Sunday will be a busy day at the Mary Brown’s Centre with a trio of draws taking place at 9:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
