EAST SENIOR SEMI FINALS: St. John’s Caps advance to finals with win over Breakers

Michael Cole scored the go-ahead goal near the halfway point of the third period and goaltender Kyle Downer shut the door for the rest of the game as the St. John’s Senior Caps outlasted the Southern Shore Breakers with a 4-3 win on Thursday night at the Mary Brown’s Centre, claiming victory in their semi-final playoff series four games to one.

Joel Bishop and Tanner Humber-Dredge also scored for the Caps, while James O’Brien (2G) and Andrew Brennan replied for the Breakers. Downer picked up the victory in goal with 37 saves.

The Avalon East Senior Hockey League finals has now been set. The Caps will go on to face the Conception Bay Blues, who swept the Clarenville Caribous in four games.
