LAROSE CHASING HISTORY: Regiment captain nearing NL points record

Larose just two points back of Welcher’s Fog Devils points record

Regiment captain Justin Larose kicked off his homestand with four points (2G, 2A) in two games against the Saint John Sea Dogs this past week, and is now fast approaching a provincial major junior record.

Prior to the Regiment’s arrival, the most points ever recorded in a single season by a player playing major junior hockey in Newfoundland and Labrador was a 76-point campaign (69 GP, 21G, 55A) from St. John’s native Wes Welcher for the St. John’s Fog Devils during the 2006-07 season.

Larose, with 12 games left in the regular season, now needs just two points to match Welcher’s high watermark from the province’s first major junior stint nearly two decades ago.

The Ste-Lazare, Quebec native has appeared in all 52 regular season games thus far for the Regiment this season and has picked up 28 goals and 46 assists with 42 penalty minutes.
