STONE COLD COMEBACK: Frost, Regiment bite back with first win of 2026-27 season

New recruit Matthew Frost netted two goals to lift the Regiment to first win over Saint John

Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan native Matthew Frost scored two goals and added an assist as the Newfoundland Regiment earned their first victory of the 2026-27 QMJHL season on Saturday night by a 4-2 score over the Saint John Sea Dogs at the Mary Brown’s Centre. 

Trailing 2-1 after 40 minutes, Phenwick MacLean scored his first QMJHL goal with under four minutes remaining to complete a the third period comeback for Newfoundland, and Alexis Michaud’s first tally of the season sealed the deal into the empty net in the final seconds.

Antoine Proulx was stellar in goal for the Regiment, making 37 saves on 39 shots, earning third star honours behind Frost  and MacLean. 

Newfoundland finished the game 0-for-3 on the power play and 4-for-5 on the penalty kill. 

Saturday night’s contest caps off a stellar opening weekend for Frost, who scored the club’s first goal of the season on Friday night. He now leads the team in goals (3) and points (4).
