SLAMMING THE DOOR: Proulx makes 25 stops as Regiment shut out Mooseheads

Regiment earn three of possible four points in weekend series against Halifax

St. John’s native Benjamin Veitch (1G, 2A) and and veteran Alexis Michaud (2G, 1A) each had a three-point night and netminder Antoine Proulx stopped all 25 shots he faces as the Newfoundland Regiment collected their first shutout win of the season 6-0 over the Halifax Mooseheads on Saturday night at the Mary Brown’s Centre.

Michaud’s opening goal just 3:30 into the first period proved to be the game-winner, as the Regiment finish their weekend series against Halifax having earned three of a possible four points.

Matthew Frost (2G) and Tyson Goguen also scored for the Regiment. Proulx’s 25-save shutout was the first of his QMJHL and was the Regiment’s second-ever shutout victory. The first was a 7-0 triumph, also over Halifax, recorded by Chase Anderson at the Mary Brown’s Centre on November 23, 2025.

A total of 5,236 fans took in the action at Mary Brown’s Centre on Saturday night. The Regiment finished the contest 0-for-3 on the power play and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.

The Regiment now boast a record of 2-1-1-0 through the first four games of its six-game season-opening homestand. The team returns to action on Saturday night as the Rouyn Noranda Huskies roll into town for a pair of games on Saturday and Sunday.
