Rogues open TBL season with loss to Montreal

The Newfoundland Rogues opened their season with a 108–98 loss to the Montreal Tundra on Friday night at the Mary Brown’s Centre. In the first game of a two-game set, the Rogues had opportunities to swing momentum but ultimately couldn’t keep pace with a deep Montreal lineup.

Friday’s opener also marked the start of the fifth season for Newfoundland’s lone professional basketball franchise, with a lively crowd on hand in St. John’s. Local product Noel Moffatt shared game-high scoring honours with returning Rogues star Dedric Boyd, as both finished with 23 points.

Montreal spread the scoring around, with eight players reaching double figures, and pulled away late to close out what had been a tight contest throughout.
