BIG WIN TO START ROAD TRIP: Regiment push win streak to four games with win over Armada

Louis-Antoine Denault stopped 29 shots for his second win of the season.

The Newfoundland Regiment (5-1-1-0) kicked off their first road trip of the season on a high note, collecting their fourth straight victory with a 6-3 triumph over the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada on Wednesday night.

Tyson Goguen scored a pair of goals and William Lundqvist scored his first in the QMJHL to lead the Regiment to their sixth consecutive game with a point.

Alexis Michaud, Louis-Francois Belanger and Maddex Marmulak each added singles for the Regiment, while St. John’s native Ben Veitch added a pair of assists.

After a scoreless opening period, the Regiment scored early and often in the second period, finding the back of the net four times in just over 10 minutes to take control of the game.

Goguen’s first of the game 3:58 into the third period made the score 5-0 before the Armada started to surge back with three goals in under six minutes to make the score 5-3.

Goguen prevented the comeback with an empty net goal in the game’s final moments to seal the Regiment victory.

Louis-Antoine Denault made 29 saves in goal to collect the win for Newfoundland, who finished the contest 1-for-4 on the power play and 2-for-3 on the penalty kill.

The Regiment return to action on Friday as they head to Rimouski for their first look at the Oceanic. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00pm EDT, 8:30pm in Newfoundland.
