Melindy, Escott sent to Senior Blues in Avalon East blockbuster trade

A blockbuster trade has just hit Newfoundland and Labrador’s senior hockey scene.

On Wednesday, the Avalon East Senior Hockey League’s Baker Flooring Conception Bay Senior Blues announced that the club has acquired forward Jordan Escott and defenceman James Melindy from the Clarenville Ford Caribous in exchange for forwards Ethan Stuckless, Nick Abbott and Adam Janes, defencemen Keaton Barry, Drew Sheppard and Kyle Lynch, and a pair of draft picks.

Melindy and Escott are both former pros who spent time in the ECHL with the Newfoundland Growlers. In 11 games with the Caribous last season, Melindy recorded 12 points and was named to the 2026 Allan Cup All Star Team. Escott recorded 20 points in just eight games played a season ago, and, like Melinda, was named to the 2026 Allan Cup All Star Team.

The Avalon East Senior Hockey League season kicks off on Friday, October 16 with a trio of games: Melindy, Escott and the Blues take on the Caribous, the CeeBee Stars will head to Jack Byrne Arena to take on the Outer Cove Marines, while the Southern Shore Breakers will take on the St. John’s Senior Caps.
